Why are wildflowers so special?
Wildflowers and wildflower-rich habitats support a whole host of insects and other wildlife, including us humans! In the UK, crops like strawberries, raspberries, cherries and apples all need to be pollinated by insects to produce a good crop - which means that making sure that we have a wide variety of our UK-native wildflower species is key.
Under threat
Since the 1930s, we’ve lost 97 per cent of UK wildflower meadows. Read on to find out more about why these habitats are so important, how to identify different species, and how to do your bit by growing your own wildflowers.
